Only Two Weeks Left to Submit Your Nominees for NLGLA's 2006 Awards!
Nominations for NLGLA's Allies for Justice Award and Dan Bradley Award needed now.
The NLGLA Allies for Justice Award recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of a legal professional who has acted as an ally of our community during the course of their career outside the LGBT community. Eligible nominees include any legal professional who self-identifies as straight. The award is co-sponsored by the American Bar Association Section of Individual Rights and Responsibilities.
The Dan Bradley Award is NLGLA's life-time achievement award, presented to an "out" legal professional to celebrate an extraordinary service -- to the LGBT legal community -- from within the LGBT legal community. The Award is bestowed at the annual Lavender Law Conference.
To make a nomination, please email a brief (25-100 words) summary of the nominee's achievements via email to info@nlgla.org; please make sure to include contact information for the nominee. All submissions must be received by February 28, 2006!
NLGLA Young Lawyers Division Now Accepting Applications
NLGLA is an affiliate of the American Bar Association. That affiliation allows our organization to bring awareness of LGBT issues to the ABA. Presently, NLGLA's Young Lawyers Division (YLD) is accepting applications for YLD Delegates. The YLD is a national voice of young lawyers and the public service arm of the ABA. The positions require attendance at national events throughout the year and therefore receive some discounts to ABA Memberships, events and potential reimbursements to defray travel costs.
These positions are competitive as they are high visibility positions within one of the largest and best-funded divisions of the ABA. The best applicants will show a dedication to the LGBT community within the legal profession, have experience volunteering with the ABA or other bar associations, and evidence a history of working in ambassadorial positions. To be eligible for the YLD, an applicant should be under the age of 36 OR admitted to the practice for less than five years.
To apply, please send a cover letter and resume to info@nlgla.org.
