Announcing even bigger awards to celebrate the Tenth Anniversary of the Michael Greenberg Writing Competition!
The 2007 Michael Greenberg Writing Competition will provide three winners with fabulous prizes. Since its inception at Lavender Law 1997 - West Hollywood, the first place winner received a $1,000 cash prize. However, this year for the first time three awardees will receive significantly increased cash prizes and complimentary travel and registration to Lavender Law 2007 - Chicago!
The competition is established in memory of Michael Greenberg, former NLGLA board member and Philadelphia attorney who died in 1996 from complications of AIDS. This exciting competition is dedicated to encouraging and recognizing outstanding law student scholarship on the legal issues affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender persons.

The National Lesbian and Gay Law Association Needs Your Nominations!
The Awards Nomination Committee is seeking nominations for the 2007 Allies for Justice Award and the 2007 Dan Bradley Award.
The Annual Allies for Justice Award honors a legal professional who, in their position of leadership, has allied with the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community making a noteworthy contribution to the struggle for civil rights and equality before the law.
The award is presented at the popular Allies for Justice Reception held every year on the Friday evening of the American Bar Association (ABA) Annual Conference. The reception is co-sponsored by the ABA Section on Individual Rights and Responsibilities, among others.
The Dan Bradley Award is the life-time achievement award presented each year to an LGBT legal professional at the annual Lavender Law Career Fair and Conference to celebrate our successes within the profession.

To nominate individuals, please send an email to info@nlgla.org that includes a brief statement of the individual's contribution to LGBT social justice and your reasons for nominating that person. Please include a description of the candidate's professional background and achievements as well as other relevant activities. You may include educational background, principal areas of practice or teaching, professional achievements, other public service contributions, and other bar association activities.
All submissions must be received by Friday June 8th, 2007.
The National Lesbian and Gay Law Association Young Lawyers Division Invites Other Young Lawyers to Apply for YLD Scholarships
The American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Scholarship Program is designed to encourage the participation of minority, solo/small firm, government, private sector, and military service attorneys in the ABA YLD. Priority will be given to applicants who express a desire to become actively involved with the ABA YLD and require financial assistance.
THE PROGRAM CONSISTS OF:
- Mentoring by the sponsoring ABA YLD Entity
- Per the Division's financial policy, scholars will receive partial funding to attend the Fall Conference, ABA Midyear Meeting and Spring Conference: round-trip airfare (limited to $350 unless prior approval is granted); $20 ground transportation; and $100 per diem (for two days). Program attendance is required to receive reimbursement.
