Lavender Law 2005
October 27 - 29, 2005
San
Diego, California

Only 5 days left to register early and receive discounted fees

This year's event is shaping up to be the best career fair and conference ever! Lavender Law® 2005 - San Diego offers you networking opportunities and thought-provoking discussions that you will find no where else.

Career Fair

Our event begins with an all-day career fair featuring dozens of recruiters -- from big firms to small boutique practices -- and including LGBT advocacy groups and government agencies.

Cutting Edge LGBT Legal Education

Three plenary sessions will highlight differences of opinion within our movement, including marriage as it relates to conflicts of law, full faith and credit, and recognition of other family structures. The nation's most prestigious law scholars will re-read the Lawrence decision in light of recent case law, while examining the status of privacy, especially sexual privacy, in light of a much-changed Supreme Court. The final plenary will address the opportunities and controversy around expressive association and the FAIR case, as it heads to the Supreme Court in December.

In addition to that, Lavender Law hosts over 36 small workshops that teach practice tips and advocacy strategies by practitioners, staff attorneys, and leading policy analysts from groups like the American Civil Liberties Union, National Center for Lesbian Rights, Lambda Legal Defense & Education Fund, Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, HRC, and the National Lesbian and Gay Task Force.

Daily Networking and Evening Fun

Each evening presents its own type of celebration. Thursday night, Ambassador James C. Hormel will present the keynote address at a opening reception; Friday night there will be receptions for students and people of color, and Saturday night features our Not for Women Only party at a posh private home in the sought-after Hillcrest neighborhood. Hundreds of your colleagues and law students will be at Lavender Law, you don't want to miss it.
